A SCHEME to make sure children at a Manningham school get the best results started this weekend.

Year 6 pupils at Green Lane Primary School are taking part in the Achieving Community Excellence programme.

Bradford-based grass roots organisation Neesie, in partnership with the school, secured funding from Awards for All to allow the school in Manningham to provide booster classes in English, Maths and Science for pupils as part of the programme.

There will also be five sessions for mothers to “up skill” themselves in the areas of the curriculum through targeted interventions as part of their parental engagement programme.

Noreen Khan, Director of Neesie, said: “We are delighted to be working with Green Lane and that we have been able to secure this vital funding which will give more opportunity for the Year 6 pupils to do well in their SATs.”

Head Kevin Holland, said: “This is really welcome news for our Year 6 pupils and will assist them to do the best they can in this year’s tests.

"We are pleased Neesie has secured this money from Awards for All to allow us to host these classes and learning for the mothers.”

Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Education, Employment and Skills, said: “This ties in with the Council’s Education Covenant allowing the school and pupils to ‘make the most of opportunities for learning at school and at home.’”
