STUDENTS from Bradford College’s School of Art will be exhibiting at the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate this week.

The event is a celebration of textile art, crafts and design and expected to attract around 20,000 people from across the UK.

Among the exhibitors will be two successful Bradford College alumni – Amanda Woollard and Sam Hussain.

Current student Shawnie Lynch is taking her weaving and screen prints to show off.

The final year BA Textiles and Surface Design student said: “I have been as a visitor to the show before but this is my first time exhibiting so it is very exciting.

“It is a great place to find inspiration, learn about different skills and shop for materials to create my own work.”

Hannah Lamb, lecturer in embroidered textile design at Bradford College, said: “As Bradford School of Art we will have two stands at the show and we are taking equipment from our workshop including weaving looms and knitting machines.

“We will be giving people a flavour of the workshop facilities and the textile processes that we teach the students.

“We will be demonstrating a mix of technique from traditional handcraft through to modern laser cutting.”

The Knitting and Stitching Show takes place at the Harrogate International centre from Thursday to Sunday.
