HUNDREDS of children from schools across the district were involved at a celebration of music and song yesterday.

The second Primary Music Live event was held in two different Victoria Halls, one in Saltaire and one in Keighley, and saw Key Stage 2 children experiencing and interacting with live music.

During the events the Bradford Youth Orchestra provided a performance of popular classical and film music, as well as talking about their instruments, how they work, and how they produce different sounds.

Around 800 primary schools pupils, 400 at each venue, took part in the sessions, sang together and learned “Bamboo Tamboo” parts to go with the singing, which they will then perform at the end of the sessions with the Youth orchestra.

The first Primary Music Life took part in St George’s Hall in Bradford earlier this year, and was arranged and led by Music and Arts Service at Bradford Council.

With St George’s Hall closed for renovation, the decision was made to spread the event out across the district.
