LABOUR MP Alan Johnson will give the first Harold Wilson Lecture at the University of Bradford on Thursday.
The MP for Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle will give the talk titled Harold Wilson – Statesman and Visionary.
The former Prime Minister was the first chancellor of the university, holding the post from 1966 until 1985, and the university is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
It is the inaugural Harold Wilson Lecture, and the university hopes to attract high profile speakers to the event each year.
Mr Johnson’s talk, which starts at 6pm, will “present a portrait of a principled and astute politician who fully deserved the public affection he enjoyed.”
