BRADFORD West MP Naz Shah has visited a secondary school in Manningham to talk to pupils about her career.

The Labour MP was a guest of Oasis Academy Lister Park, one of the main schools in her constituency, on Wednesday, where she was given a tour of the school before speaking to students.

It was her first visit to the school.

The school was put into special measures last year, but the most recent Ofsted inspections have said the school was taking effective action to improve.

Ms Shah, who was voted in as MP in 2015, said: "It was a great experience, I got to see some real, budding future politicians.

"Doing visits like this is one of the things I enjoy most about the job. Doing visits to local schools keeps your feet on the ground. It reminds you that in your role you can influence the future of these children, it really makes you realise the level of responsibility you have.

"I was born and raised on the streets of Bradford, and now I get to represent the area in Parliament.

"I was very inspired by the young people and the school's leadership team."
