CHILDREN enjoyed a taste of life as an author at a writing workshop.

Best-selling author Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was used as the inspiration for a writing session held at Clayton Library.

And the workshop was followed by a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory chocolate and sweet design and making session.

It was part of The Big Friendly Read which is this year’s national Summer Reading Challenge and encourages primary school children to read for enjoyment by reading six books during the school holidays.

All libraries in the Bradford district are involved in the challenge and have events on throughout the summer based on the books of Roald Dahl, whose famous works also include James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, BGF, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Witches, and George’s Marvellous Medicine.

The next workshop takes place at Great Horton Library on Wednesday, August 24, between noon and 2pm.
