A FAGLEY school is celebrating a turnaround in fortunes in two years after it was rated good in its latest Ofsted report.

St Clare's Catholic Primary School, Bradford Road, Fagley was ranked good in all areas.

The school had been judged to require improvement when it was inspected in 2014.

But in its latest report, inspectors said: "A committed staff team aims to nurture all pupils to be the best they can be academically, socially and emotionally.

"As a result pupils say they feel safe and are happy in school."

Headteacher Mary Newsham said: "We are delighted with this report as Ofsted sees the school as we do.

"Much hard work and dedication by pupils, staff, parents, Governors and the wider community have all contributed to this very pleasing outcome.

"We are particularly pleased that the inspectors recognised that 'leaders, including governors, have effectively addressed the key areas for improvement since the last inspection.'"

Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council's executive member for education, employment and skills, said: "This is great news for St Clare's.

"All those who have worked so hard to bring about this excellent achievement should be very proud."
