A SCHOOL has held its first charity den-making day, with pupils crafting a wide variety of structures.

Southfield School in Little Horton, Bradford, raised around £250 for Save The Children, as well as for the school’s sensory garden.

Classes at the school had fun competing with each other to see who could create the best den.

The fun day came towards the end of a busy academic year, during which pupils at the special school have taken part in an expanding curriculum of outdoor learning activities.

Teacher Zora Miller said: “This is a really positive event which celebrates the many successes of our outdoor learning curriculum whilst raising money for charity.

“This year our students have taken part in a range of outdoor learning activities.”

Head teacher Jacqui Hill said: “Outdoor learning is an important part of our curriculum which enables all of our students, regardless of their needs, to develop a range of skills and experience learning outside of the regular classroom environment.”
