Littlemoor destroy Asa Briggs

Pudsey Littlemoor A were 29-1 winners over Asa Briggs A in the performance of the week in the Naylor Premier League.

Starring for Pudsey were Paul Jacques (21-7), Graham Wood (21-7), Nigel Roper (21-7), Dave Cooper (21-8), Brian Richards (21-8) and Glen Smith (21-9).

Tony Naylor (21-3) and Stephen De La Hoyde (21-6) helped Brighouse Sports B to a comfortable 26-4 home success over Horsforth Woodside A in the Godwin League.

Wibsey A managed eight home winners in the Observer League in their match with early pacesetters Greengates, with Michael Gill (21-5), Michael Frost (21-5) and Alan Clayton (21-6), as Wibsey eased to a 24-6 win.

Bramley Libs B were also big home winners in the Bartle League, as they beat Bowling A 27-3, with Colin Sunderland (21-5) and Ken Stockhill (21-6) the pick of nine home winners.

Andy Robertson (21-4) helped Stanningley to a 20-10 home success over Bradford Moor A in the Haigh League. Three late winners for the visitors kept the score respectable.

Horton A produced the result of the day in the Riley League, as seven away winners assured a 23-7 away win at Horsforth Woodside B. Joe Walbran (21-0) led the way, with Jean Briggs (21-7) and Ken Briggs (21-9) also on top form.

Cyril Simpson (21-7) rolled back the years for Tyersal B in their 25-5 home win over Shelf B in the Field Packaging League, as the hosts managed nine home winners. Only Douglas Haigh (21-4) showed any resistance for Shelf.

Tony Davey (21-1) and Sandra Hall (21-6) helped Peel C to a 23-7 away win ay Horton C in the Mellor League. Horton got off to the best possible start with three winners out of the first four jacks, but could not muster another winner as Peel took control.

  • Yorkshire open their season with a match against Cheshire at Spen on Sunday (2pm start). The squads are a mixture of youth and experience.

  • Saturday is the closing date for the Yorkshire Merit and Hills Supplies Handicap (with entries taken by Maurice Carter on 01274-664705), the Mixed Pairs Merit, sponsored by Texere Yarns, and CGA Junior Merit (with entries taken by Norman Lickley on 01943-884323).
