    Team set for novel climb

Volunteers from Shipley plan to scale new heights and raise £10,000 for charity by entering a team into the UK's first challenge to reach the summit of Ben Nevis using wheelchairs.

Employees at House of Mobility will be joining ten other teams being led by wheelchair users who will travel to the Highlands to take on the highest mountain in Britain.

Staff members Karen Wood, Nathan Channon, Michele Ali and Tom Appelbee will take part in the sponsored challenge, which has been organised by former SAS soldier and TV presenter Ken Hames.

Each team will be led by someone in a wheelchair in a bid to be the quickest up the mountain on May 31.

They will pit their stamina against teams from all over the UK in the hope of raising money for disability charities Scope and Capability Scotland.

To raise money for the Ben Nevis climb, an evening of entertainment has been organised at the Midland Hotel in Bradford on Friday, May 15.

Tickets cost £50 per head and include a three-course meal, a live band and a charity auction with items donated by local companies.

Organised in conjunction with Scope, the event aims to raise up to £10,000 for the charity.

To reserve tickets, call Karen Wood on (01274) 582220 or e-mail karen.wood@channon .com.

Alternatively, call in at Calderdale Mobility & Stairlifts at 46 Market Street, Hebden Bridge, or Dalesway at 30 Victoria Street, Skipton, or visit them online at www.swift mobility.co.uk.
