This weekend will see the first Armed Forces Day which will no doubt become an annual event.

All is ready so just turn up and enjoy yourself. Let’s have plenty of standards on parade on Sunday and don't forget to claim your tot from the rum tub.

The committee have worked hard and want you all to enjoy yourself. If you think there’s something missing tell us so we have input on what’s wanted.

* The Pudsey branch of the Royal British Legion have no standard bearer. If you qualify – for instance you are a serving member of the forces, senior cadet in a local unit or a serving policeman – please get in touch with Liz Phizackerley-Sugden on (0113) 257 7627 (after 19.30 hours) or call in at the Royal British Legion club in Pudsey.

* The annual reunion of the HMS Orion Association is at the Royal Fleet Hotel, Devonport, on September 5 and 6. Please note that because of Navy Days weekend there is no accommodation left at the Royal Fleet Hotel. Call Kay West on (0116) 259 2171 for details or e-mail kaywest@tiscali.co.uk.

* Oral History Project on WW2 is being collated to help students to study effects on serving personnel in wartime situations and also includes anyone who was of working age from 1938 to 1945 and carried on working during air raids and other perilous situations. If you have a story to tell and would like to record your experiences for posterity, get in touch with Joe Morley 07912 622035.

* A reunion for those serving from 1960 to 1963 in the Military Police at 101 Det. JHQ. Rheindalen Garrison will is on October 2 and 3 in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Call Neil Stammers on 01886 888513 for details.

* A reunion for anyone who served in the RAF in Aden is booked for November 14 in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Details available on (01492) 622680.

DIARY DATES: Today (Tuesday): HMS Ganges Association meets in the Feversham Street headquarters of the Bradford Sea Cadets at 20.00 hours.

Royal Marines Association meet in the Dovesdale Club at 19.30 hours.

Thursday: Submariners Association meets in the Tong Street Conservative Club at 20.00 hours.
