The flag-raising in Centenary Square on Monday (June 22) is at 10.00 hours.

Please muster in the Square for this event. It is the first time we have had a flag-raising and it will coincide with other councils up and down the country at 10.30 hours.

All standards are invited and serving personnel will be present to try and make it a day to remember.

The special armed forces day ensign will be flown for the first time. This was made available from the Veterans Agency.

* Invitations have been sent out for the Lord Mayor's annual luncheon for veterans and plans finalised for the weekend of June 27 and June 28. Maybe this year the rain will hold off and the dancers won't need umbrellas!

* Number 1,000 flight operations assistance course will graduate from RAF Shawbury on July 9. A reunion for all ex-TTF staff and students will be held following the ceremony. Contact foac1000ttfreunion@hotmail.com or telephone CATCS administration on (01939) 250351, ext 7281 for further details.

* Members are being sought for the HMS Courageous Society. The society is open to all who served on board this submarine from 1969 to 1992, and also anyone who was attached to the vessel at any time. Prince of Wales Own meet in the Bradford Moor Conservative Club at 19.30 hours.

Tomorrow: Coldstream Guards meet in the Northcliffe Golf Club Sataire at 19.30 hours.

Keighley Branch Royal British Legion meets Holingsroyd House, Lord Street, Keighley, at 19.30 hours.

The Green Howards Association meets in the club in Headingley at 13.30 hours.

Monday (June 22): The Association of WRENS meets at 13.30 hours in the CVS Building 19 Sunbridge Road.
