A chance to Square bash again!

On Monday, June 22, at 10.30am in Centenary Square, Bradford, the four flagpoles will have flags hoisted to celebrate the start of Armed Forces week.

This will incorporate the veterans day events on June 27 and June 28 which will follow the same pattern as previous years.

The organisers would like to see veterans from all organisations and cadet forces in the square at this time – so polish up your medals and check the crease in your flannels and let’s see some bodies there.

* Last time I mentioned Veterans Cards the phone was red hot. They will start to be issued in 2010 with people leaving service and gradually, four million will be sent out. They will bring us into line with the USA and France and offer all who served their country preferential treatment for the NHS, housing and so on, and also discounts on purchases on a wide range of goods and services. Watch this space!

WEDNESDAY: Russian Convoy Club meets in Eastborough WMC, Dewsbury, at 11.30 hours.

The D-Day and Normandy Veterans meeting at the club on Clayton Lane has been CANCELLED.

Low Moor and Wyke branch Royal British Legion meets in the Harold Club at 20.00 hours.

Thursday: Submariners Association meets in the Tong Street Conservative Club at 20.00 hours.

FRIDAY: RAF Regiment Association meets in Thornbury Barracks at 19.30 hours.

Saturday: West Yorkshire Malaya and Borneo Veterans meets in the New Headingley Club in Leeds at 14.00 hours.

Monday: Skipton branch RNA meets in the White Rose Club at 20.00 hours.
