A Bradford law firm has named The Ear Trust as its chosen charity and will be supporting the Telegraph & Argus-backed Listening for Life Appeal with a series of fundraising activities.
Gordons is supporting the appeal which is raising money to build a cochlear implant centre on the Bradford Royal Infirmary site.
Once complete it will become the home of The Yorkshire Cochlear Implant Service, which has outgrown its current accommodation within the hospital.
The centre will allow the service to continue its pioneering assessment and treatment of profoundly-deaf babies, children and adults through the use of cochlear implants The service was introduced to Bradford by ear, nose and throat consultant Chris Raine, who also set up The Ear Trust charity to support the service.
The Ear Trust has already raised £1 million which has allowed building work to start. It is now appealing for help to raise the remaining £1.5 million.
To start its charity drive, Gordons presented £1,000 to Mr Raine and in the coming year it plans a series of fundraising events.
Richard Piper, of Gordons, said: "We are proud to be offering our support for such a worthwhile cause as The Ear Trust, as it is a charity that provides a crucial role in enhancing the health and well-being of people of all ages with hearing difficulties in the region.
"I am already heavily involved with the charity and often carry out work-in-kind on its behalf, so it is great that the whole company is now also behind them.
"Throughout the next year our staff will participate in fundraising activities to raise as much money as possible towards the new centre and we will be organising a number of different events, which will clearly benefit the Trust."
Mr Raine, said: "The Listening for Life Centre will be a truly unique facility as it is rare for both clinical and educational facilities to be housed in the same building.
"However, once complete it will give the unit a fantastic location from which to develop further medical research, while providing a family friendly environment for those involved in treatment.
"We are grateful to Gordons for its support for the Trust and think it is fabulous that the firm will focus its activities towards raising money for us."
