10:12am Wednesday 24th June 2009

Members of the Ilkley business community turned out in force to hear experts share tips at the first meeting of Ilkley Business Forum.

The new forum – which last week started its LS29 Community Loyalty offers scheme – invited businessmen and woman from the Ilkley area to The Craiglands Hotel.

The meeting gave people a chance to meet up, hear talks by business experts and laid the foundations for the formation of the new organisation.

More than 100 people attended the event.

The chief speaker was Professor Stuart Sanderson, formerly of Bradford University School of Management.

Forum spokesman, Steve Butler, said: β€œThe loyalty scheme has got off to a good start but we need more participation from more businesses in the area.”

The group of founder members plan to hold regular meetings on the last Thursday of each month. The first will be on Thursday, July 30.
