An internal newspaper for supermarket workers designed and produced by an Otley-based firm been voted best in its class at a national awards.
Publishing company Words & Pictures produces the newspaper Miles for 15,000 Asda distribution workers The quarterly tabloid has been praised by the Communicators in Business awards judges for its content and design.
The CiB said: “All the right buttons have been pressed in terms of the look, feel, design, writing style, content, picture quality and headlines. It screams out to be picked up and read.”
The newspaper was voted best in its class for newspaper design and given excellence awards for best newspaper and best designed newspaper.
Andy Holt, creative director at Words & Pictures, said: “The newspaper is an entertaining and engaging read and perfectly matches Asda’s aims and aspirations for the publication.”
Asda’s distribution director Ian Stansfield said: “Miles is a trailblazer. It’s the first publication aimed specially at depots and helps us to communicate our key messages to our colleagues.”
The awards follow the success of Asda’s Smile magazine (now called Everything Matters), also produced by Words & Pictures.
