A West Yorkshire events agency has won an environmental award for the ‘greenness’ of its own company conference.
World Events, based in Cleckheaton picked up the inaugural EIBTM sustainable initiative of the year award in Barcelona.
The firm’s conference was run according to its TripleImpact best practice initiative which ensures that events have a minimal impact on the environment, helps the local community near the venue and makes a return on investment.
Mark Saxby, group sales and marketing director, said: “Sustainability is very important for WorldEvents and the event industry at large and it will only become more important as time goes by.
“We wanted to allow staff to be involved with and to experience first hand what we are doing on this so they can share it with our clients. We are pleased EIBTM has included sustainability in its awards and are thrilled to have become the first recipient.”
World Events also won the IMEX Commitment to the Community Award.
