Gomersal firm up for award

A small family grower will be taking on the major brands at a national food industry awards.
W. S. Bentley, based in Gomersal, has been shortlisted in two categories in the National Institute of Grocery Distribution’s Industry Food Awards 2009.
The nominations are for the company’s “And Sow On” range of four ready-to-eat packs of sprouting seedlings.
Managing director Jan Bentley said: “This is such a thrill for me and all our staff, as we have worked hard to stay focused during the past year, and in only our second year, we expect the new range of And Sow On to account for 40 per cent of our turnover.”
The winners will be announced next Tuesday in London.
