Companies should review their IT systems to avoid breaches in security which could cost them thousands of pounds, according to accountants Clough & Company, which offers independent IT advice.
The firm, with offices in Cleckheaton and Keighley, has a specialist IT division offering independent systems checks and guidance.
Martin Clark, head of the @ud-it division, said: “We know of many companies that have suffered IT security issues, including one which cost nearly £20,000. This is a huge amount to have to pay out, and it really is avoidable.”
Owner-managers of businesses rarely have the specialist knowledge to make the best judgement on new IT kit or commissioning new systems, instead relying on sales people to advise them.
Mr Clark said: “For little cost, improving IT systems can pay huge dividends and many clients have benefited. More companies are realising advice from an impartial expert is the most sensible way forward.”
