Keighley employee wins top award

An employee of Keighley-based motor dealer Colin Appleyard has picked up a top award at the 2009 Outstanding Achievers ceremony for the Institute of Motor Industry.

Tracey Cooper, group administration and marketing manager, was named outstanding management student at the IMI headquarters in Hertfordshire, which was attended by the IMI patron Prince Michael of Kent.

Judith Duffy, senior service advisor at the company’s motorcycle branch in Keighley, was runner-up in the same category.

Tracey, who worked her way up after joining the firm eight years ago as a secretary, completed a leadership coaching programme delivered by The Blue Water Partnership.

Praising Tracey, the judges recognised her clear approach to objectives setting which has resulted in cost savings for the company and improvements in customer satisfaction. In his opening address, Prince Michael said: “You should all be extremely proud of your achievements and success so far having been chosen from more than 60,000 candidates.”

Colin Appleyard’s managing director Robin Appleyard said: “As a company we have always recognised the benefits of staff training and both Tracey and Judith are shining examples of what can be achieved.”
