A NEW restaurant is set to open this week in Ilkley.

Broadley’s Bistro & Wine Bar is located in the Moors Shopping Centre, in the unit that was formerly occupied by Fat Face.

The fully refurbished unit features a bar, open plan kitchen and a south facing outdoor terrace. It can seat up to 50 diners inside, with a further 20 on the terrace, weather permitting.

The man behind the project is local chef Matthew Broadley. Matthew was born in Otley and has lived and worked in and around the Wharfedale area all his life.

He has dedicated his whole professional career to food, including positions as head chef at the Devonshire Brasserie, The Wheatley Arms in Ben Rhydding and most recently the Black Hat in Ilkley.

Matthew said: “Opening my own restaurant is the realisation of a long-held dream and I just can’t wait to start cooking! I’ve deliberately designed the kitchen to be open plan so that we’ll be on show and there’ll be no hiding place for me and my team.

“We’ll be open all day, serving brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks and coffee. My vision is to offer great food, drink and entertainment, underpinned by outstanding service. It’s really important to me that all my customers enjoy a relaxed and chilled time with us, whether it’s over a glass of wine, a coffee or a plate of food.

“I’m particularly proud of the fact that I’ve been able to create 15 full and part-time jobs which have all been filled by people living in the local area. I’ll be using local produce wherever possible and local suppliers too, including Ramus, Wilkinsons, Bondgate Bakery and Martinez Wines.

“I’m aware that there are some great food places already in the town but I’m confident that our independence and individuality will be well received by the diners and drinkers of Ilkley and beyond.

“Over the years I’ve built up a strong base of loyal customers who’ve followed me wherever I’ve worked and I’m very much looking forward to welcoming them to Broadley’s along with many new faces as well.”

Broadley’s opens on Thursday, April 5.
