The Bradford BID Development Group, set up to investigate the possible creation of a Business Improvement District for the city centre, has appointed a local company to handle its Public Relations.

Bradford-based Yorkshire Media Partners Ltd, led by the former editor of the Telegraph & Argus, Perry Austin-Clarke, will officially take up its contract in the New Year.

Chair of the BID Development Group, Ian Ward, who is also general manager of the Broadway Shopping Centre, said: “The tender for this contract provoked a very high level of interest which is an indication of how important the establishment of a BID for Bradford is seen.

“We were very impressed by Yorkshire Media Partners’ proposals for helping us achieve a positive vote for the BID initiative and it’s very clear that Perry Austin-Clarke’s knowledge and understanding of Bradford, his long-standing commitment to the development of Bradford city centre and his enthusiasm for the project will be a huge asset to the Group.”

YMP Ltd director, Perry Austin-Clarke, said: “After editing the T&A for 25 years and following the many improvements to the city centre over the last few years, I was very keen to see Bradford continue to develop and grow and the Business Improvement District is the ideal way to help that happen.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the BID Group to help bring about this major initiative for Bradford and I’m excited about the positive improvements it will undoubtedly deliver if we’re successful in achieving a ‘Yes’ vote next year.”

A survey of city centre businesses and organisations has been taking place since July and a detailed report into the feasibility of the project will be produced later this month. If it goes ahead, a ballot of those affected will commence in September 2018 with the results announced in October.
