A FOOD delivery app by the private hire company Uber is making its debut in Bradford today.

UberEATS is described as “an on-demand food delivery app that helps bring millions of people around the world the food they want at the tap of a button.”

The new venture, which is due to go live from 11am, will initially involve more than ten restaurants in and around the city centre, including My Lahore, The Urban Chocolatier, Coco Deli, and Mama’s Pizza.

UberEATS will be available in Bradford from 8am to midnight seven days a week, and bosses say they will be expanding the delivery area and adding more restaurants in the coming weeks.”

Mathieu Proust, general manager of UberEATS, said: “We’re hugely excited to be launching in Bradford today. People in the city can now use UberEATS to get the food they want, when they want it, in just 30 minutes or less.

“With hundreds of meals to choose from, UberEATS has something for everyone, whatever the occasion or location - whether that’s at home, in the office, or when out with friends.

“The app is really simple to use and orders are charged straight to your card so there’s no need for cash.”

To order, customers need to download the app or head to www.UberEATS.com. There, they can browse restaurants, place orders, and track progress to a selected delivery locations.

A spokesman for Uber said: “UberEATS gives people, restaurant partners, and delivery partners more options. Local restaurants can tap into the UberEATS delivery network to expand their businesses and reach a new network of potential customers, and delivery partners have access to even more flexible money-making opportunities.”

The spokesman added that the new service was “completely separate and bespoke” to the company’s driving operation, with the meals delivered by couriers using mopeds and push bikes, job opportunities described as “great” for the student market.

He added: “It will use the same kind of group of couriers as firms such as Deliveroo. Competition is a good thing, and we feel there is room in the market for another service like this.”
