A NEW gym has opened its doors - right in the heart of the city centre.

The new £1.5m easyGym, at Arndale House, is just a stones throw away from The Broadway and marks another step forward for development at the bottom end of town.

Bradford boxer Tasif Khan was on hand to mark the grand official opening yesterday.

Manager Mansoor Hussain said: "It's a fantastic new gym for Bradford city centre and for the community.

"With us, we're providing equipment from the highest end of the market."

The gym features a cardio zone, a free weights zone, a spin studio, studios for classes and a 'freedom' zone, which is a multi-functional training area.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for the Bradford community," Mr Hussain said.

"It's an excellent location in the heart of the city. It's the perfect location for the gym.

"We're near The Broadway shopping centre, there's a new cinema coming, so it's in the area where Bradford is up-and-coming."

And for those who are new to the gym, there's a range of different classes to try out alongside the equipment.

They range from body pump and zumba to high intensity interval training and spinning.

"Everyone is welcome. We all start somewhere," Mr Hussain added.

"When I first started the gym, I was nervous, but you become confident with how you're feeling. We make all our members feel welcome and we don't push them into what they are not comfortable with.

"We have different levels of classes. We also have fun classes, like dance, and ladies-only classes."

Tasif Khan added: "It has got beautiful facilities.

"For what you pay and what you get, it's absolutely amazing.

"It has got state-of-the-art equipment and it stands people in good stead.

"I can see myself in the future training here for my fights."

At the moment, the gym is offering free day passes, so people can try out the equipment before signing up. This offer will run until September 10.

And until the end of the month, membership is £12.99, before rising to £17.99. Visit www.easygym.co.uk for more information.
