A STEETON bakery is among the first suppliers to be chosen as supermarket giant Morrisons bids to boost its stock of regionally-produced goods.

Grandma Wild’s Biscuits will feature on the shelves of all Morrisons’ Yorkshire stores from June 26.

The bakery – which was formerly in Haworth but is now based at the Millennium Business Park in Station Road, Steeton – has been producing the biscuits to an original recipe for more than a century.

Bradford-based Morrisons started a campaign earlier this year to find more Yorkshire suppliers to provide products.

There were 75 applicants and the best 20 were given the chance to showcase their goods at an event in Keighley in March.

Danny Clee, for Morrisons, said: “Our customers tell us they want to see more locally-produced food and drink in our stores and this programme aims to do just that.

“At our event in Keighley we saw a great range of Yorkshire products and are delighted to welcome the first of our new local suppliers to our stores.”

The company is expected to announce more successful suppliers later this year.
