A SHIPLEY-based specialist insurer is looking to inject up to £10,000 into a start-up business to mark its own 40th anniversary celebrations.

Keycare, which is now the UK’s leading expert in the key recovery and assistance market, is mulling over its options to boost a fledgling firm including a Dragons’ Den-style competition.

The firm, based on Salts Mill Road, celebrates its 40th anniversary next month. It is commissioned by leading insurers and distributors including the AA, Endsleigh and Direct Line, and specialises in recovering lost or stolen keys for its customers.

The firm manages more than 1.8 million insurance policies and a 24-hour incident and locksmith call-out helpline from its Shipley headquarters.

David Robertson, Keycare chief executive, said: “We’ve been hugely successful from humble beginnings and so it seems fitting that in honour of our late founder, and our 40th anniversary, that we look to give something back to the local business community.

“We’ve not decided yet how the grant will be structured or indeed the awards process. We’ve been looking at various avenues to make this anniversary grant a reality – for example we have been in discussions with some local universities to see if we can run it as a joint initiative and there are other options too. A Dragons’ Den-style competition is another option.

“We are excited by the possibilities and look forward to announcing the details in the coming weeks as we approach our anniversary.”

Meanwhile, Keycare has also supported a range of good causes. These have included Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Martin House Hospice in Boston Spa. Keycare also supports Simon On The Streets, an independent charity working across Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield with those who have issues relating to sleeping rough.
