A JOBS fair will be showcasing about 300 summer jobs at Leeds Bradford Airport.

The annual event will be held at the airport’s terminal building on Saturday, January 21, between 11am and 2pm.

Positions are available at the Yeadon site in a number of roles including cabin crew, passenger and customer services, retail, hospitality and baggage-handling.

Companies including Jet2.com, World Duty Free, Swissport and other retailers with outlets at the airport will attend the event. Information about the application process will be available from the companies.

The airport is expecting an increase in passenger numbers later this year.

Emily Bramley, passenger services manager at the airport, said: “We are preparing for a very busy summer season in 2017 and so we’re keen to invite jobseekers along to our job fair.

“We are looking for people with a wide range of skillsets and experience to contribute to the success of the airport – whether that be by working directly for LBA or for one of our business or airline partners.

“It’s really exciting working in an airport, it’s a buzzing atmosphere and every day is different. In return, those joining will gain further experience and a great career opportunity.”

Increased passenger numbers last year pushed turnover at the airport to record levels.

Passenger numbers rose by five per cent to nearly 3.5 million in the year to March 31 last year and achieved a six per cent increase in turnover to just under £29.45m. Losses narrowed from £8m to £3.8m.

The airport was used by 13 airlines flying to 64 destinations.

The 2017 winter season is offering the airport’s widest ever programme of flights and holidays, including six new destinations – Berlin, Vilnius, Warsaw, Bratislava, Guernsey and Newquay, with Jet2.com, Ryanair and Flybe.

Anyone planning to attend the job fair is urged to book a place at leedsbradfordairport.co.uk/job-fair-2017.
