TWO expanding Bradford companies have signed up for new premises.

Precision engineering firm Sigma Technologies has relocated from Shipley into a larger 21,300 sq ft base at the Park 26 development at the Euroway trading estate

Meanwhile, timber component manufacturer Ramsey Timber Group has signed a five-year lease a 20,000 sq ft unit at Hartley Business Park on Dick Lane to significantly boost its warehouse space.

Sigma, which was acquired by North-East engineering group Altec last year, has moved from its previous Riverdale House, Dockfield Road, base due to continued expansion.

The firm specialises in machining components for the defence, power generation, nuclear and aerospace industries.

Andrew Millington, Sigma Technologies general manager, said; "Following our acquisition by Altec Group, we have been able to build on our existing customer base and continued expansion which has necessitated us moving to new premises.

"The unit on Park 26 provides us with the quality of accommodation we were looking for in an excellent location from which to service our existing and new customer base."

Daniel Walker, surveyor at commercial property agents Gent Visick, said: "This unit attracted a lot of attention highlighting the general scarcity of supply across the West Yorkshire market at the moment and we were pleased to achieve a headline rent commensurate with the high quality of the property and its proximity to the national motorway network."

Property consultancy Knight Frank advised Ramsey Timber on the leasing of its extra warehouse space on a site owned by the Hartley Property Group.

Ramsey Timber Group, which manufactures timber components for the bedding and furniture industries, including more than 1.5 million divan frames annually.

The company, which has become the major supplier of timber products to the UK bedding industry. operates from three Bradford sites making bespoke products for customers.

Mike Ramsey, managing director, said: “Confidence in the market enables this significant addition to our warehousing stock and supports our five-year plan for growth and investment ."

A spokesman for the Hartley Property Group said: “In recent years we have seen confidence return to the industrial property market in Yorkshire - and the letting of another 20,000 square feet in our modern Hartley Business Park is a significant demonstration of this."

The Ramsey Timber deal follows Knight Frank’s report that the total take-up of industrial units above 50,000 sq ft across the region reached 1.7million sq ft in the second half of 2015- 58 per cent up on the previous six months and 16 per cent higher than the same period in 2014.
