Ten Bradford property designs are up for possible gongs next week at the regional finals of the Building Excellence Awards 2014.
Schemes nominated by all five West Yorkshire local authorities will compete for the regional award and a place in the national final in London. The properties have been nominated by building control surveyors for their construction quality.
Tony Raby, Bradford Council’s principal building control surveyor, who is one of the judges, said: “The aim of the competition is to promote, recognise and reward good building design and construction.”
Finalists this year include Dixon Allerton Academy at Rhodesway; the new Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) building at Bradford University; four town houses in Harden Road, Harden; 44 houses in Jacobs Lane, Haworth; conversion of the former Royal Hotel pub in Wooller Road, Low Moor, into a house; and 16 houses converted into flats in Roundhill Place and Chain Street.
