Woman in Business Award
sponsored by The Broadway Bradford
This category celebrates the woman who has stood out in Bradford’s business community this year. It is open to businesswomen from around the district, and we are looking for the woman who has shown truly outstanding leadership in the head role of a firm, enjoying success for her company and acting as a role model for others. Submissions might include how the business has performed, and how the nominee has helped with that performance. We would also be interested in any issues they have had to overcome to achieve their success and how they have dealt with problems they have encountered. Janine Dutton won last year’s Woman in Business honour and is pictured above receiving it from former T&A editor Perry Austin-Clarke. Janine set up her business Belle Lingerie almost by accident in 2005 and it has grown into one of the largest independent lingerie retailers in the UK. It also trades internationally. Working part time at First Direct Bank, with three young children, she started selling a few things through online auction site eBay and capitalised on the lingerie market after spotting a gap. Today she employs 18 people and operates from a 6,000 square foot warehouse unit near Chain Bar Road, Cleckheaton. The Broadway Shopping Centre has quickly established itself as one of Yorkshire’s premier shopping destinations. The Centre boasts more than 85 stores and eateries including prolific high street names like Debenhams and M&S. Spring 2018 will also see a number of new restaurants and a brand new cinema, The Light, opening their doors. Located in the heart of Bradford, The Broadway links the historic Little Germany and Cathedral Quarter areas, and is easily accessible by car, bus, rail or on foot. The centre is delighted to once again be sponsoring the Woman in Business award at the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Means Business Awards.
