Winner: Kings Security

Security firm chief Anthony King said it was wonderful to be recognised as Bradford’s best boss.

Employer of the Year is an extra-special category in the Bradford Means Business awards, as entrants are nominated by their own staff.

Anthony, managing director of Kings Security, was put forward by employees who were happy to sing his praises.

They said Kings frequently gave jobs to local people. It offered staff free healthcare, funded any training that employees wanted to partake in, offered rewards and continually praised its staff for jobs well done.

As well as this, the firm continued to show its support and generosity by organising money-raising events for charities each year, staff said.

Anthony said the award meant a lot to him, and that it showed he must be doing something right.

He said: “To be recognised by your staff is probably one of the best awards you can get.

“It means you are getting something right, by looking after people.

“It’s wonderful, it’s really wonderful.

“We have won a couple of awards in our industry, but nothing locally before. The other awards are all industry stuff, so this is a nice balance.”

Kings is a family-run business, set up in 1967. From humble beginnings looking after local corner shops and schools, it now employs 580 staff and handles the security for big high-street names like KFC, McDonald’s and Starbucks.

Anthony said his staff truly were at the heart of his business. He said: “It’s the secret success of Kings. It’s all about the people.”
