FOUNDED in 1875, Christeyns is one of Bradford’s oldest manufacturing companies.
Today its principal focus is the supply of detergents, supporting chemicals and engineering expertise for the commercial laundry sector across the UK. It has an additional focus on manufacturing chemicals for the construction sector.
The company invests heavily in its employees and four years ago introduced an apprenticeship programme.
Christeyns is looking towards sustainable growth and its focus is on the export market.
LUXURY FABRICS LTD
BASED in Stanley Mills, Bradford, Luxury Fabrics Ltd is a group of premium women’s and menswear brands that design, manufacture and sell luxury fabrics for suits, jackets and coats in the highest quality fabrics which include wool, mohair and cashmere.
Repeat customers account for 80 per cent of its turnover.
An investment of £1.2million has been made in new weaving machines to increase capacity and flexibility.
The firm also invests time in developing future designers through a student placement scheme with Huddersfield University.
BASF’s Bradford site is one of the largest and most productive single-site chemical plants in the UK.
The annual output is over 250,000 tonnes, of which 84 per cent is exported.
Eleven main production facilities on the 50- acre site in Low Moor accommodate around 600 employees.
It primarily manufactures products used to enhance industrial processing in such industries as paper making, mining, oil extraction, waste water treatment and textile processing.
