The Telegraph & Argus Bradford Means Business Awards 2012 is looking for the district’s business personality of the year.
We’re accepting entries now for this year’s awards at the dedicated section of our website, telegraphandargus.
co.uk/bradfordmeansbusiness.
The Business Personality of the Year Award, sponsored by Welcome to Yorkshire, is for the person who has demonstrated inspired and inspiring leadership which has made a real contribution to their company and, in doing so, has enhanced the image and reputation of the district as a whole.
The panel will want to know how this leader motivates and galvanises their staff, and will want to see examples of their flair and method for getting things done.
Submissions might include evidence of the firm’s success under the nominated person’s leadership, and there could be a discussion of their style of management.
We’d also like to see some personal attributes and achievements, and hear about any personal challenges which were successfully overcome.
The current holder of the title is Andrew Mason, of Newmason Properties, who redeveloped the award-winning Victoria Mills, in Shipley among his many successes.
He also serves as a director of the Newlands Community Association, one of Bradford’s leading social enterprises, based in Greengates.
After winning the award, Mr Mason said he would not be able to be successful without the backing of his team.
He said: “The reason I have been able to do some of the things I have done is because I am supported by a great team.
“I can’t go and do the things that I do with Newlands, or the Bradford Property Forum, if I didn’t have a good team, so it is a good thing that the team has the courage of its convictions which allows me to do the things I do.”
Mr Mason said the ceremony was serving the city of Bradford as a whole. He added: “Bradford is the winner in every single one of these awards tonight, and the T&A is a winner as well – to get the support of a local paper is fantastic.
“The great and the good are here tonight and everybody is having a fantastic time. There’s vibrancy and excitement.”
Highly commended: Paul Mackie, of Rex Procter Associates, in Low Moor, Bradford; Chris Afful, of Christopher James Contractors, in Idle, Bradford.
