West Bowling company increasing shifts to meet demand
Cash-strapped students are being offered a summer lifeline by an expanding Bradford-based packaging company which needs temporary staff to meet a booming order book.
Mailway Packaging Solutions, based at West Bowling, is looking to recruit up to 50 people to work between June and August to help it meet a surge in summer orders.
Next week the firm will go onto 24-hour working, packing a range of products for clients including a leading international soft drinks manufacturer.
Company bosses expect its operations to be working flat-out throughout the summer months – normally a quiet time.
As a result, they are seeking temporary staff in positions such as team leaders, production, administration and sales.
Mailway has also recently recruited five permanent team leaders and is looking to take on two graduates for administration roles.
Summer vacancies include shift-working over seven or 11 hours or night work.
Chief executive Richard Bramma said the opportunities would suit school-leavers or students coming home for the summer break.
“With a busy schedule ahead, we’re looking to local people to help us meet an increased demand for our products and services. The temporary nature of our vacancies is ideally suited to the thousands of local students in the area and those who prefer part-time employment and may be looking for short-term solutions for earning some money and reducing debt over the summer months.
“With full training on offer and a variety of shift patterns available, we hope that this latest recruitment drive will go some way to supporting local people.
“It’s the first time we’ve targeted students as demand is usually lower at this time of the year and doesn’t pick up until they’ve gone back to university or college. But we’re much busier than usual this summer which enables us to offer temporary jobs.”
Mailway, which employs more than 200 people, has the largest flow wrapping capability in the UK and provides a range of services from design to delivery of finished goods.
It works for many leading brands in a range of sectors, including healthcare, confectionery, wines and spirits, food and drink, cosmetics and beauty care markets.
