Leeds Bradford Airport launches chaplaincy service

Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) has introduced a new chaplaincy service at the airport.

The Reverend Nick Baker of Guiseley Methodist Church will be coordinating this pastoral role for both staff and passengers.

The Chaplaincy is available to anyone, regardless of faith or belief. It will provide confidential support, care and counselling for the airport community.

Mr Baker has been a minister for 14 years, including 11 years as a chaplain in the education sector in Leeds. He is interested in building inter-faith relations and developing Fairtrade links. Prior to becoming a minister Nick worked in local government finance.

He spent some of his childhood in Kenya and has lived and worked in various parts of the UK and the United States.

Mr Baker said: “The airport is an important part of our local community and I am pleased that we are now able to offer on-site assistance and support.

“I hope the new service will provide pastoral and spiritual care and guidance to all who work at the airport and for all those who travel through it, irrespective of faith or religious belief.”
