Football fans will be able to compete online after a pair of former Bradford University students started the UK’s first National League for FIFA 09 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Stryxa.com, sponsored by Soccerade, has announced details of the Official FIFA UK League Network, which will start on Monday.

Claire Langston, founded Stryxa.com with Laurie Austin after the pair studied together.

Gamers will have the chance to tackle other FIFA fans across the country, and be in the running to share the £10,000 prize fund. Anyone over the age of 14 can enter, and the free leagues will run every night of the week. Players will be updated with tables, news, photos and cup competitions.

Claire said: “This is the first time anyone has launched an official network of leagues for the FIFA game that involves all towns for either the Xbox or Playstation 3 and we are absolutely sure this is going to be a local and national phenomenon.”
