Ferret racing and sheep shearing are among events planned by a leading brewer of traditional Yorkshire ale to mark this year’s Yorkshire Day on August 1.
And Bradford accountants Naylor Wintersgill will stage its second Yorkshire Day event for clients and contacts at its Grammar School Street offices in Bingley.
The Ferrands Arms in Bingley is one of seven pubs owned by Keighley-based brewer Timothy Taylor laying on Yorkshire Day celebrations from Saturday July 25.
The Royal Oak in Keighley will run a beer festival and celebrations will also be held at, the Lord Rodney in Keighley and the Woolly Sheep Inn, Skipton, among others.
A charity raffle will raise funds for the Army Benevolent Fund offering a first prize at each pub of a £151 beer tab, marking Taylor’s 151th anniversary. On Yorkshire Day itself all the pubs will sell Taylor’s beer at £1.51 a pint.
Operations manager Marc Craddock said “Timothy Taylor is a proud Yorkshire company so this year we wanted to show our allegiance to our county in a special way. “We’re out to make it a really enjoyable day and at the same time raise as much money as possible to help our Army lads who are doing such an incredible job out in Afghanistan”.
Naylor Wintersgill’s event will be held on Friday, July 31.
