A Bradford College student has proved he is one of the best trainees in Yorkshire following his success at the regional hear of this year’s SkillBuild – the UK’s biggest construction skills competition.
The competition aims to find the UK’s best trainee across a variety of trades including bricklaying, joinery and painting and decorating.
Adam Worsick , 20, an apprentice with Marshall Joinery, won the gold medal in the joinery category at the Yorkshire and Humber heat.
Students competed against each other in their trade to complete a set piece of work within the day.
The work was assessed by a panel of technical experts at the end of the day when the winners were announced.
Mr Worsick said: “Winning the competition feels fantastic, I’m going to make sure that I practice so I have the best chance of winning at the national final.”
He will now compete in the national final which takes place from October 7 to 9 in Scotland.
