A Bradford lawyer and entrepreneur who recently won recognition for her contribution to the Asian business and professional community is now in line for a national award.
Nasreen Karim launched her legal practice Platinum Partnership in 2004 and also runs a company supplying ethnic food hampers.
She recently picked up the entrepreneur excellence award at the Lloyds TSB Jewel Awards.
Single mother Nasreen was recognised for her determination in establishing a successful solicitors practice in both Bradford and Leeds and for setting up her new company Hiba Hampers. This operates from a room above the Bradford law office off Manningham Lane.
Nasreen, of Great Horton, said: “I wasn’t expecting to win the award but it was a pleasant surprise. My determination to set up a solicitors practice came about because of my son. I am glad he was there to see his mum pick up the award.
“Hiba Hampers was born after I noticed the lack of exclusive gift services aimed at the Asian wedding market. There was simply very little choice in a what is a lucrative market.”
Nasreem is in the running for the Entrepreneur of the Year prize in the Asian Women of Achievement Awards, whose patron is Cherie Blair.
