Accountants boss says: 'You can count on our help'

An accountants’ leader has urged colleagues to play their full part in helping local businesses to fight the recession.

David Heaton, president of the Bradford Society of Chartered Accountants, said the economic climate provided opportunities for advisers to develop links with firms.

He told guests at the society’s annual dinner that accountants had to play their part in helping firms.

Mr Heaton, a tax partner at Baker Tilly which recently moved into new offices at Saltaire, said: “Let’s take the opportunity to cement existing relationships, start new ones and look for ways of growing our businesses in and around the city. ”

Explorer Dr Mike Stroud, who has taken part in expeditions with Sir Ranulph Fiennes, was the keynote speaker.

The Cedar Court hotel event also raised funds for Bradford’s Marie Curie hospice.
