Five years of hard work and investment by the founder of a Bradford-based speciality food business has paid off with supermarket group Waitrose agreeing to stock its range of gluten and wheat-free products.
Coeliac-friendly products produced by Brazilian Flavours of Cutler Heights Lane will be among the ‘free from’ ranges at Waitrose stores from April. Isabel Gordon, a chef who founded the firm, said: “It is so rewarding and incredibly encouraging for my products to be recognised in this way.
“Pursuing my passion for natural ingredients and delicious recipes inspired from the vibrant culture of Brazil has finally paid off.”
Brazil-born Isabel came to the UK in 1990 and moved to Bradford in 1996 after meeting her Yorkshire-born husband.
She trained at the Thomas Danby College and received support from the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber (RFGYH), West Yorkshire Ventures and Business Link.
She launched Brazilian Flavours in 2007 with a cheesebread mix called ‘Pao de Queijo’. All her products are low in salt and have no artificial preservatives, flavours or colours or hydrogenated fats.
