FINDING a production operator job is easier than ever, with a wealth of opportunities on offer.

Whichever role you do finally choose, the toughest bit will be preparing for your interview.

Well, we’re here to help. Here is our guide to the top five interview questions?

Why are you the best person for this job? There’s nothing like being thrown in at the deep end but don’t worry: you have this covered. Having read the job description many times you know what your new employer is looking for – so shine a light on the skills you have that tick those all-important boxes.

What experience do you bring to the role? Take a deep breath because this is a chance to mention everything you’ve done. It is time to brag shamefully, because every job you mention is a step closer to this one. If you don’t have experience yet, don’t panic. Focus instead on showing your enthusiasm, willingness to learn and knowledge of the company. Very often passion alone wins the day.

Why do you want to join our company? The truth is likely to be the money and the fact it sounds like a great gig. But what your potential employer really wants to hear is how much you love their company and its ethos. This is the time for flattery so make sure you’ve a few fast facts that show you’ve researched the firm.

Have you ever made mistakes on the job? You may well be the exception but, as it’s generally accepted no-one’s perfect, don’t be tempted to buck the trend. Offer an example of a minor mishap – maybe it was misreading a packaging code – but underline you learned from the experience and this, in fact, has boosted your operator’s skills. A mistake is just an opportunity for new success, after all.

Where do you see yourself going in this job? Share your career aspirations. Perhaps you see yourself moving one day from production operator to factory manager or senior quality controller. Highlight your motivation for self-improvement and upskilling – and the fact this will add value to the company.
