A MANUFACTURER’S £1 million investment has started to pay off after an almost 50 per cent sales boost.

ActionPlas, one of the UK’s leading speciality machinists and supplier of plastics, has reaped the benefits of its warehouse expansion last year with a 47 per cent year-on-year quarterly sales increase.

The company expanded into a new warehouse at its headquarters in Grangefield Industrial Estate, Richardshaw Road, Pudsey, boosting space by 13,000 square feet to 25,000 sq ft, in September.

In the first four months following the move, sales increased by 12 per cent compared to the previous quarter and were up 47 per cent October-December compared to the same quarter in the previous financial year.

ActionPlas has secured seven new customers – a record quarterly haul for the company, since October last year.

The company’s expansion has included the installation of new machinery, such as a Mini Mill and Vertical Panel Saw, to increase processing speeds and the ability to offer faster delivery and improved quality for bespoke cutting.

A recruitment drive has also led to the firm appointing a graduate mechanical design engineer, two additional computer numerical control (CNC) machine operatives and an internal sales trainee.

Chris Wray, managing director at ActionPlas, said the company has already started to reap the rewards of its spending on new facilities and staff.

He said: “Our investment in facilities, staff and machinery has borne fruit, with fantastic performances in both sales and customer acquisition.

“We will continue to invest and evolve to cement our role as the country’s leading speciality machinists and plastics suppliers, delivering high quantities in rapid turnaround times.”

ActionPlas specialises in the manufacture and supply of bespoke plastic components for the food and drink, automotive, pharmaceutical, print, leisure and personal care industries in the UK and across Europe.
