A BRADFORD-based sandwich firm has claimed a tasty national award victory.

Tiffin Sandwiches, which has its head office on the Euroway Trading Estate, was named the Barclays Scale-up Entrepreneur of the Year at the Barclays High-Growth & Entrepreneur Awards.

The firm was nominated for the award by its bank manager, Nick Aldridge, of the Barclays branch in Market Street, Bradford.

This is Tiffin’s second victory, after it was told last week it had won the North of England regional award.

Representatives from the firm, which is the UK’s largest independent sandwich supplier with a turnover of £17 million, received their prize from businesswoman Lady Karren Brady at a ceremony in London on Wednesday.

Tiffin supplies pre-packed sandwiches, salads, pastries, paninis and food to go.

Nick Hogan, national sales director, said: “It’s really nice to win the award.

“Karren Brady said that it made a nice change for a company that makes things, rather than a technology company, to win one of these awards.

“It is good recognition for everybody who works there.”

Tiffin Sandwiches employs more than 300 people at its two sites in Bradford and its south of England centre in Hemel Hempstead, which opened in 2013.

It started as a sandwich shop in Valley Road, Bradford, in 2000 and moved to sites in Thornton Road and then to its current base.

Its Bradford factory, which it took on a 15-year lease in 2015, has a production capacity of one million products per week.

“We have almost got to our limit, production-wise. We want to continue as we are. We have grown massively quickly,” said Mr Hogan.
