THE West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce has appointed two new members.

Andrew Digwood, of Rollits Solicitors, and Suzanne Watson, of Approach PR, have both been elected by members of the chamber.

Ed Everard, of Saville Audio Visual, has stood down from the chamber’s board.

Mr Digwood has worked in dispute resolution since 2004, where he has worked for a number of clients including corporates, charities and educational institutions.

He has also worked in tenancy litigation, copyright and design infringement and professional negligence matters.

Mr Digwood has been a partner in the solicitors, which has offices in Yorks and Hull, since 2012.

Meanwhile, Ms Watson has joined the chamber board after she was appointed vice-president of the Bradford Chamber of Commerce.

Based in Ilkley, she has run Approach PR since it was set up in 2001.

Her firm specialises in advising clients on strategy, objectives and delivering powerful social and traditional media content.

Approach works with a number of well-known companies including GlaxoSmithKline, Northern Foods, Acorn Stairlifts and bakers Delifrance.

Stephen Wright, chairman of the Chamber Board and managing director of Thorite, an air compressor firm which has an office in Bradford, has praised the board’s new recruits.

He said: “While we are sad to lose Ed, we are pleased to recruit people of the quality of both Andrew and Suzanne.

“They are both keenly dedicated and successful business people with knowledge and experience in abundance.

“These appointments can only strengthen what is already a first-class board of directors, to help steer and guide the chamber as it continues to deliver quality services that connect, support and represent businesses in our patch and beyond.”

The chamber’s board of directors’ role is to advise, challenge and make sure the business of the chamber is run in a sustainable way for the long-term benefit of its members. It also acts as ambassadors for West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.

Nick Garthwaite, the managing director of hygiene solutions company Christeyns, was unanimously elected as the new president of the Bradford Chamber of Trade last month.

He succeeded Andy Caton, who has held the post for the last two years.
