A BRADFORD-based transport recruitment company has recorded its fourth successive record year of profits.

Driver Hire, based in King’s Gate, off Canal Road, has 75 franchisees operating from 86 offices across the UK.

This year, it has seen its turnover exceed £100 million. It has also been a good year for many of its nationwide network of franchisees, half of which are celebrating annual turnover in excess of £1m.

Celebrating its 30th year in franchising, the company works with businesses that operate commercial vehicles, to provide them with a range of services including temporary or permanent staff, driver training and driver risk management systems.

Driver Hire provides temporary and permanent drivers and other logistics staff to local and national organisations in both the public and private sector.

Chris Chidley, Driver Hire’s chief executive, has expanded the business since buying it from founders Mark Lawn, the former Bradford City co-chairman, and John Bussey, who ran the firm for more than 20 years.

Mr Chidley said: “Driver Hire continues to provide a business critical, 24/7 service, that ensures our customers meet their delivery deadlines. The flexibility and reliability of the service we deliver ensures that, not only do we retain customers, we’re doing more business with them. And, of course, we do much more than simply meet our customers’ staffing needs.”

Mr Chidley added: “Driver Hire also offers a range of innovative, added-value services, such as DH Licence Check, our online tool that automatically monitors drivers’ licences, or our Driver CPC training services.

“This, combined with our quality first approach, is helping us to deliver year-on-year growth.

“We’re looking forward to building on our success throughout the year ahead.”

The firm, founded in Bradford in 1983, is a specialist transport and logistics recruitment business.

Meanwhile, Driver Hire has been nominated in the British Franchise Association (BFA) Franchisor of the Year Awards, held in Birmingham on Wednesday, June 28.
