SCHOOL leavers have been urged to build a new career with a place on an apprenticeship scheme.

Hanson UK is seeking 11 teenagers to join first year apprentice Fiona Bradshaw (pictured) on its Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD) programme.

One of the vacancies is based either at Hanson’s asphalt plant in Leeds or at its Bradford plant in Common Road, Low Moor.

To apply for the three-year programme, which combines practical hands on experience with a distance-learning Foundation degree in minerals extractive technology from the University of Derby, would-be apprentices need a minimum of two A levels, five GCSEs and a full driving licence.

In return, trainee supervisors receive a competitive salary as well as a fully-funded degree programme.

The closing date for applications is noon on Friday, March 17.

Shortlisted candidates will have the chance to visit one of the sites on a familiarisation insight day.
