A BINGLEY-based adventure engineering company has continued to hit new heights after boosting its marketing department.

George Lambourne, 22, has been appointed by Hangfast Adventure Engineering to its sales and marketing team.

The firm will complete the construction of Europe’s first-ever Flight Tower, which is more than 60ft high, at Lancaster City Council’s Salt Ayre Leisure Centre.

The Flight Tower, named Gravity, is a multi-level outdoor tower which will see thrill-seekers urged to leap from ‘The Drop’. It will open next month and is the latest stage in the £5million regeneration of Salt Ayre Leisure Centre.

Mr Lambourne, who graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a sports marketing degree, will look to further strengthen Hangfast’s brand, build customer relationships and boost the firm’s presence in the market.

He has previously worked for Hangfast on big screen installation projects at Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds.

He said: “I’ve always hoped to pursue a career where I can enable others to share my enthusiasm for physical activity and fun.

“What’s great about Hangfast is that it’s not only a world-leading adventure engineering company which delivers major installations - it’s also about creating the opportunity for others to enjoy excitement and adventure.

“Though I’m originally from West Sussex, I enjoyed my time at Leeds Beckett University because I developed my passion for sport.”

Hangfast moved into three units in 2015, totalling 12,000 sq ft at the Castlefields industrial estate at Crossflatts - doubling its operating space and providing room for future growth.

It works with a wide range of clients including Sport England, the armed forces, schools, outdoor education and leisure centres, and leisure and tourism attractions.

Legoland, Center Parcs and Alliance Leisure are among the firm’s key clients after it developed and installed equipment for them in the UK and Europe.

The firm has expanded its capabilities from making basic low level climbing walls to a range of ever more sophisticated systems to suite a wide range of abilities and uses.

Hangfast also increased its international reputation following its involvement with the London Olympics and Paralympics in 2012.
