MORTGAGE administration company HML is adopting the name of the global group which acquired it in 2014.

Skipton-based HML, is re-branding as Computershare and will operate within its loan services division.

HML was acquired by Computershare from Skipton Building Society for £47.5 million after growing into one of Europe’s leading third party mortgage administrators. In June, Computershare won a major government contract to administer mortgages for state-owned bank UK Asset Resolution, based in the former Bradford & Bingley headquarters at Crossflatts. Around 1,700 UKAR staff remain there after being transferred to Computershare’s operations.

Computershare Loan Services managed assets totalling £71 billion – more than half of all outsourced mortgages in the UK.

Andrew Jones, Computershare Loan Services chief executive, who was previously HML boss, said: “Since Computershare acquired HML we’ve benefited from unprecedented levels of investment that has seen the business go from strength to strength.

“Computershare Loan Services’ success in being appointed to service the mortgages of UK Asset Resolution demonstrates the power behind the combination of HML’s 25 years of experience as a third party mortgage servicer and the global scale of Computershare’s technology, knowledge and resources.

“HML has been a proud name in the world of mortgage servicing for many years and the business adopts the Computershare name knowing that together we will be empowered to grow and succeed further, particularly in the level of client and customer service we provide.”

Meanwhile, 13 apprentices aged between 16 and 24 have joined Computershare’s Crossflatts operation from local schools and colleges. They will work in various departments, including IT, human resources and customer operations.

Since 2010 71out of 104 apprentices have secured either permanent roles or fixed-term contracts in the business ndrew Jones said: “Our business is a key player in the economy of the North of England, and we’re determined to play a leadership role through both continued financial success and by supporting the local community. We have provided training and education opportunities at our offices across the globe for many years and I’m sure these apprentices have long successful careers ahead of them.”
