ANTHONY Rabin has been appointed as the new chairman of Yorkshire Water.

Mr Rabin has been named as the chairman of the boards of Kelda Holdings Limited, Kelda Eurobond Co Limited and Yorkshire Water Services Limited.

He took on the role of acting chairman following the decision by Professor Richard Parry-Jones to step down in May this year.

Anthony Rabin was appointed to the board of Yorkshire Water Services Limited in August 2013 and as senior independent director in March last year.

He has been a member of the Board of Kelda Holdings Limited since September 2012 and was appointed a director of Kelda Eurobond Co Limited in June this year.

Richard Flint, Yorkshire Water’s chief executive officer, said: “I am delighted that Anthony will be taking up the role of chairman and leading the Board towards achieving the company’s objectives over the coming years.”

Mr Rabin, who was appointed chairman on September 9, will continue to act as chairman of the Audit Committee pending the appointment of a new non-executive director to undertake that role.

His previous business experience included being executive director, chief financial officer and deputy chief executive at Balfour Beatty. He has also held a number of previous executive roles with firms including Coopers & Lybrand, as partner, structured finance group), senior assistant director at Morgan Grenfell & Co and tax compliance and a consultancy post at Arthur Andersen & Co.

Meanwhile, Three Sixty, part of the Kelda Group, has been launched to the non-household market.

Three Sixty has been created to meet the specific needs of business customers across the country.

It will offer a fresh approach to the water market, before it is deregulated in April next year. This will mean all eligible firms in England will have the freedom to choose their water and wastewater supplier.

Robert Marrill, former director of Kelda Group’s non-regulated business Kelda Water Services Retail, will lead the 120-strong team based in Barnsley.

He said: “In developing Three Sixty, we have learnt from all the attributes that made our sister company Yorkshire Water so successful and have applied them to this new company.”
